A new teen anger management group will be starting soon! The goals of the groups are to increase self-awareness, self-esteem, self-control and positive personal power.
This group is for everyone who chooses the path of personal discovery and growth; not just for people with “anger problems.” It is based on safety, respect and dignity. Anger is a powerful emotion we can all use to get tough things done. But sometimes, we let it use us!
In the group, you learn new ways to see anger as the normal feeling it is, to know and appreciate ourselves better, and to learn new, constructive ways to handle ourselves, especially in provoking situations.
We will meet from 7-8pm in my east Boca location; Dixie Hwy, just south of Palmetto Park Road on the west side; 747 South Dixie Highway – the Count de Hoernle Train Depot.
The cost for the 10 week program is $250.00 and all materials will be provided. There is a one time intake fee of $50.00 for the individual/family assessment meeting. Groups meet on Wednesday evenings, although occasionally meetings may be moved to another weekday night. Parent participation/attendance is also an integral part of success. Parental attendance is requested for 2 meetings during the course of the 10 week program.
The groups are psychoeducational and contain therapeutic and educational components and focus on incorporating anger management "toolbox" skills into daily living.
Topics such as responding to bullying, problem solving, coping skills, self-esteem, peer pressure, interpersonal communication, dealing with authority figures, decision making, responsibility, goal setting, etc., are some of the highlights.
